CP Lab Safety and Emery Pharma Donate to Alameda Point Collaborative
Alameda, CA, April 2020 – Local Alameda pharmaceutical companies, CP Lab Safety and Emery Pharma, has committed to donating 1000 masks and Personal protective equipment (PPE) to help protect the personnel, healthcare workers and patients in need within the community. Currently, 500 masks and food donations have been made to the APC community in response to the COVID-19 crisis and a fire that temporarily misplaced 5 families. Dr. Katie Guggenheim, who is the Associate Director of Medicinal Chemistry at Emery Pharma, learned of the need from her husband, Marque Cass a Youth Coordinator at APC. To help support APC’s community through such a trying time, CP Lab Safety and Emery Pharma provided the masks and regular food donations so that APC residents could access these resources right in their community. Brandy Muniz, the Director of Development and Community relations at APC said, “Resources are limited everywhere and the community is in real need of supplies. When it’s a local business that steps in to provide these supplies, we as a community feel grateful knowing that we have neighbors that care about supporting APC families.”
APC is the largest supportive housing community in Alameda County. It uses the decommissioned naval air station at Alameda Point to provide permanent housing and supportive services to 500 residents experiencing chronic homelessness and permanent disabilities. Its mission is to use all of its resources to end homelessness and its symptoms by providing housing and services to create communities where formerly homeless families and individuals can flourish. Aside from its permanent housing, APC provides a variety of supportive services so that its residents (41% are children and youth) can break the cycles of chronic homelessness and live happy, healthy, and self-sustaining lives.
